Dettori - 'Ottomarzo' IGT Romangia Rosso 2012
Healthy bright red. Knockout nose offers ripe red cherry, raspberry, minerals and white pepper, plus a complicating hint of underbrush. Very suave and refined on entry, then rich, ripe and loaded with spicy, sharply delineated red cherry and berry fruit flavors. Finishes very long, with silky tannins and great sophistication. Even taking Alessandro Dettori’s obvious talent into account, if he can make a wine this great from Pascale (and it’s not his first outstanding vintage of this wine), then it stands to reason that other producers ought to start looking into the merits of this long-forgotten Sardinian red variety.
